Wow. Just writing the number 39 blows my mind! I am still caught between really wanting to meet our daughter and really wanting to cling to these last few days before life with a newborn begins again!
Read below to see how things are going at week 39, and how it compares with my first pregnancy!
I finally got around to trying on my Moby wrap, and boy was that an experience. I think my very large baby bump made it harder than it will be with a baby, but I wanted to get the hang of it before she gets here. I basically understand the mechanics of it now, and I love the color and feel of it. Just not so sure how confident I feel about it's ability to hold my child up without me also having to hold her up. And that's the whole point, right? We'll just have to see when she gets here, I guess!
I also finally caved and bought a onesie for this baby girl! It was a great price and from an Etsy shop that I've used before and loved. I saw it and just had to have it, plus I love helping out small shops by giving them business!
Isn't it precious?! And perfect for our October baby! It's from an Etsy shop called Choosy Child Boutique and comes in short sleeve as well. I went with long sleeve because I am hoping it will get cooler here soon!
I bought it in a 0-3 month because with her being due end of October, she's only going to get about a month's worth of use out of it before it becomes out-of-season. She's predicted to be a large baby, so we will see how well it fits her once she's here! Hopefully she isn't SO big that she grows out of it before then!
I also was surprised with some wonderful gifts from my bible study group. They had a bunch of adorable and useful things for the baby - nursing covers, diapers, wipes, outfits, a blanket, a bow, and the most adorable little personalized bloomers (pictured below) - as well as a bunch of wonderful things for me, like a giant 'Mama' coffee mug (much needed!), some lotions, candy, a scarf, a handmade gratitude journal, and some face masks.
I was blown away by their thoughtfulness, not just for the baby but for this very pregnant mama as well! It brought me to tears and I just couldn't be more grateful for mama friends like them!
Overall, this past week has felt different than all those before it. I've had a few signs of impending labor, such as 4 scary contractions in the middle of a parking lot that had me calling my husband in a panic as well as those 'shocks' taking my breath away at random times throughout the day.
But this week I have embraced the fact that she is still in my belly, and I have resolved to not rush her because this is essentially the calm before the storm. The newborn storm that I know all too well for being both beautiful and chaotic (funny how often those two are married when it comes to raising kids, huh?).
So here's to making it to 39 weeks, and hopefully I'll have some more progress to share next week - or maybe even some newborn baby pics (but if she's still taking her time, that's alright with us)!
