Blogging has to be one of the coolest things ever invented. Seriously. I know to some it may sound silly (the term 'blog' itself is kind of funny), but if you've never read one or tried writing one yourself, you really are missing out.
When I started my blog, I had no idea how beneficial it would be for me mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. It started simply as an outlet, a place for me to practice my love of writing and use some of the inspiration I've gotten from other bloggers via Instagram and Pinterest. But it has grown into so much more: a community I feel a part of, an escape when I need one, and a source of self-worth I lost when I quit my job to become a full-time SAHM.
I say all of this because I am just incredibly grateful for this avenue and the opportunities it has afforded me; one of which is recently being nominated for a new blogger award known as the Liebster Award.
Here's a little background about this award:
The Liebster Award 2017 is an award that exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. The earliest case of the award goes as far back as 2011. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. - The Global Aussie
It's basically a way to get smaller blogs exposure using the "pay it forward" mentality. Bloggers nominate other bloggers to recognize all the time, energy, and commitment they pour into their blogs, and this process creates a supportive network as well as generates new readership to their respective brands.
I was nominated by Megan from Mommalikeme and you can find her Liebster post here. Her blog is adorable and packed with great kids' activities, yummy recipes, and many more mommy-friendly posts!
I am very appreciative of this opportunity and the recognition she has given my blog by choosing me as one of her nominees - thank you Megan!
As part of the nomination process, each nominee is asked to answer some questions in order for their audience to get to know them better. Here are the questions and my responses:
Now that I have been nominated, I have the honor and privilege of nominating a few new bloggers that I admire - you can find out all about them below!
A Fox Stew
This wife and boy mom blogs about a range of topics, mostly concerning healthy living and motherhood. I love her authentic voice, how her faith shows through her writing, and how she talks about her strengths as well as her struggles. My favorite post of hers is titled "Purposeful Motherhood," because it speaks to me as a mom and a Christian. She goes beyond what mothers typically do and dives into what it really means to be a mom. Go give her blog a look if you're interested in reading her fresh, genuine outlook on all aspects of life. And if you're on Instagram, follow her at afitstew!
Home. Family. Life.
This wife and mom is not only a blogger, but a full-time registered nurse as well! Oh, and she's expecting her third baby any day now! Can you say superhero?! What I love most about her blog is the simple layout with little pops of color and the wide array of topics she writes about. They range anywhere from saving money on groceries to recipes using healthful ingredients to beauty tips and product reviews, among other things. My favorite post of hers is definitely her "Soft Pumpkin Cookies with Vanilla Glaze" - yes, I made them and yes, they were DELICIOUS! There really is something for everyone on her blog, so go check it out! And if you're on Instagram, follow her at homefamilylifeblog!
Everyday, Ordinary, Life
This wife and brand-new mom is a kindergarten teacher (aka a saint) and just has a really beautiful outlook on life as seen through her blog. She and her husband are also exploring adoption, which I think is so brave and so amazing. What I love about her blog is how simple it is, yet how profound her words are. I admire her style of writing, her beautiful pictures, and how her writing voice sounds like she is telling you her story face-to-face. My favorite post of hers so far is definitely her baby girl's birth story, "Ellie Josephine Millar//Birth Story." I love birth stories in general, but hers really takes you through the thoughts a mother has when bringing a child into the world and not just the physical details of that experience. If simple but profound posts are your thing, please go give her blog a peek. I promise you'll find a lot of inspiration and feel like you've gained a friend as you read her personal and touching posts. Also, check out her beautiful Instagram feed at mrs.millar!
Lilly at Home
As a stay-at-home mom of 3 boys, this blogger has a fresh and fun blog all about mom life, decorating on a budget, and DIY projects she's taken on. Her posts are very relatable to me and I'm sure many other moms out there trying to navigate the stay-at-home mom struggles! My favorite one of hers is her "Living Room Transformation" because it's real and authentic, plus has a little humor and some before and after pictures that are always fun to look at! Go give her blog a read and see what I'm talking about! She can also be found on Instagram at lillyathome!
Rooted Love Momma
This blogger is mom to 2 girls and started her blog as an outlet for some personal struggles she was working through. She shares about this in her post "Advcocate: Stop the Stigmas", which I admire so much for her bravery in being so transparent to her readers. My favorite things about her blog are definitely her pictures - they are simply stunning and help convey her messages so well. She has an array of posts ranging from mental health awareness to mom stuff and beyond. Her writing is genuine, poetic, and very relatable. You will not regret spending some time on her website reading what she has to say! And to see her beautiful life through Instagram, follow her at rootedlovemomma!
The Tex-Mex Mom
My last nominee is also a stay-at-home mom to a handsome little boy and precious little girl. Besides the name, my favorite things about her blog are how well it is designed and the plethora of seriously awesome content she has created! Super easy to navigate, beautifully set up, and posts that I genuinely want to read - that's her site in a nutshell (in my opinion)! My favorite posts of hers are the monthly book reviews she does. I've explored a few of the titles she has discussed on her blog that I otherwise never would have heard of, so I am very thankful for her insight! Beyond book reviews, though, she writes about faith, family, and food, which just happen to be 3 of my favorite things! If those topics interest you, too, go check out her blog some time! And follow her beautiful family's activities on Instagram at thetexmexmom!
To my nominees: please follow these instructions to share your own Liebster love! Can't wait to read your responses to the questions and see your nominees (should you choose to accept)!
I am so honored and humbled by this small recognition because it makes this whole journey I am on as a blogger seem that much more real and my goals that much more attainable!
