From my experience having been pregnant twice and having lots of mommy friends, I have learned that there are basically two schools of thought on pregnancy:
1. It is the most beautiful, wonderful, and awe-inspiring 9 months of your life
2. It is the most exhausting, uncomfortable, and miserable 9 months of your life
I think most women who have experienced the complexity of pregnancy can agree that those 9 months are really a good marriage of both ways of thinking. You will have moments of awe and bliss quickly followed by moments of duress and despair. It just comes with the territory.
Below I have compiled a list of both things I enjoy about being pregnant and things I truly loathed while pregnant. If you're looking for a laugh because you've been there, or you're looking for some clarity because you're newly pregnant or trying to be, read on for what I consider to be The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of those tumultuous 9 months we call pregnancy!
Warning: some sarcasm was used in the writing of this post
Now that you're thinking pregnancy sounds wonderful, let me drop a little dose of reality on you. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, unfortunately....
The Bad & The Ugly
So, there you have it: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of pregnancy. With everything in life, there's always a give and take. Pregnancy is definitely no different.
I think this bible verse really paints a true picture, though, of how you should embrace pregnancy. As uncomfortable as it may be, all that will disappear when you lay eyes on your little one. You will instantly forget morning sickness, heartburn, and even the pain of labor as soon as they lay that baby on your chest. Otherwise, I wouldn't be sitting here expecting my second and there'd be a whole lot less people in this world!
Pregnancy is an incredible role we get to play as women, so don't take it lightly. But know that you aren't alone in all the icky parts, either! Stay strong mommas!
