If you missed last week's post about this segment I am doing for the remainder of my pregnancy as well as my 25 week update, you can find it here.
Let's take a look at where I was at 26 weeks with our first and how things are now at 26 weeks with our second bundle of joy!
My weight gain seems pretty consistent with my last pregnancy, which I'm not complaining about because I didn't feel like too much of a whale last time (at least not at this point).
Last time around, I was seeing a nurse practitioner who seemed alarmed by my weight gain at every single visit during my second trimester. It got to be really frustrating at every appointment hearing her concern no matter how much I changed my eating habits. This time around, I have a doctor who doesn't say a word about my weight and instead just focuses on how I am feeling each time I see him. I actually enjoy my prenatal visits now and am thankful I don't get the 'weight talk' every 4 weeks. (Now if I do end up having gestational diabetes this time around, I'll eat my words here, but until then I'm content!)
I am definitely doing more intentional activity like swimming and walking at this point in my pregnancy than I did with my first. However, I was working full-time as a teacher and coach back then, so I know I wasn't exactly sedentary. I think in the end, my activity level will end up being the same for both pregnancies, just being accomplished in vastly different ways.
Something I definitely didn't see coming this time around were some subtle contractions while grocery shopping one morning. It turned my usually 1-hour grocery trip into almost 2 hours because I had to take lots of breaks and walk really slow. I am feeling all kinds of things in my abdomen this time around that I didn't with my first, but I am chalking it up to second pregnancy and nothing to worry about just yet.
Thanks for reading! Be sure to check back for next week's update!
