Wow, just one week away from the third trimester! That completely blows my mind. First trimester felt like it took forever and now this second one has flown by!
Let's take a look at the comparison between my two pregnancies in the last week of the second trimester.
Okay, so I read ahead in my journal from pregnancy #1 and I didn't start seeing any until 35 weeks back then, yet here I am 8 weeks earlier than that with pregnancy #2 and those pesky lines have shown themselves all around my belly button!
If I really think about it, this makes sense; they never truly went away after my first pregnancy (they just kind of shrunk to where you couldn't really see them). So naturally, when my body started to stretch again, they would appear. But it still makes me so envious of women with smooth bellies all the way through pregnancy!
I have started to try to combat my stretch marks with Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Cream for Stretch Marks. I love the way it smells and keeps my tummy moisturized for hours. I used it after my first baby was born to try to diminish the stretch marks from that pregnancy, and it did help a little bit. Maybe using it earlier this time will help even more!
The other big difference I am noticing is that my first baby was so much more active than this current one. It can be a little worrisome when I realize I haven't felt her move in a few hours, but I usually poke around until I get her to react and she always does.
I have a confession to make: I am secretly hoping that her less frequent movements means that she is a calmer and more relaxed child than my first. Okay, I know that probably sounded horrible, but I am all about transparency on this blog, so there it is!
Let me explain. My first daughter has shown signs of hyperactivity literally since I started being able to feel her in the womb. She always seemed to be moving in there, and now that she's out, she cannot sit still to save her life, even when falling asleep. And staying asleep is hard, too, because she seems too eager to get moving again. It bothers me to watch her be so restless all the time, but I also don't necessarily think being an active kid is a terrible thing. Maybe my second will just be less of a busy body compared to her older sister and maybe be a little better of a sleeper because of this. We shall see!
Well, thanks for checking in! Check back next week for the first week of my THIRD trimester (such a crazy thought)!
